Choosing a major can be difficult, especially with the hundreds of traditional undergraduate majors offered by colleges and universities with different degrees.
Engineering, education, health professions, and technological fields are often the most favored by student preferences and the most in-demand in the labor market.
But if traditional specialties do not interest you, you can always get out of the ordinary and choose to specialize in one of these little-known and unknown university degrees and specialties!
University specializations given by certain colleges and universities across the world
1. Nature simulation with a twist Biomimicry
Arizona State University provides a part-time master's degree program in nature simulation that focuses on natural-style design.
Arizona State University is the first university in the world to offer a master's degree in biomimicry, a developing field that can prepare students for Ph.D. degrees, nature simulation programs, and consulting and leadership jobs.
2. Cannabis biology and chemistry
Colorado State University's Chemistry Department offers an undergraduate cannabis biology and chemistry program for graduate students in biology or chemistry interested in careers in the developing field of Cannabis Science. Students in the Bachelor's degree program can specialize in either analytical or natural product research.
Analytical chemistry prepares students for professions as biological technologists, biochemists, and biophysicists. The biology-focused natural product program comprises Advanced Study Courses in genetics, neurobiology, and natural goods.
3. Puppets and the arts of puppetry
Since 1964, the University of Connecticut has offered one of the most fun undergraduate majors. Students in the curriculum are prepared for work on Broadway, on television, and in schools. UConn is one of three colleges in the United States that provides a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in puppet arts, as well as a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in puppet arts.
Unlike other majors, BFA Dramatic Arts students at UConn begin taking puppet art classes during the first semester, and students in the puppet arts major take two-thirds of all college classes. Theatre production, puppet methods, and stage design are among the subjects offered in the BFA degree.
4. Bicycle design and production
The bicycle design and manufacturing major at Minnesota State College was the first of its type. Minnesota State College Southeast participates in the Applied Science Program for two years, where students design and build a custom bicycle.
Metal fabrication, three-dimensional printing, mechanical design, and laboratory courses in welding, prototyping, computer-aided drawing/design, and computer-aided manufacturing are all offered to students.

The Bachelor of Fashion Technology degree at DePaul University prepares students for a career in the fashion industry. Students at the theatrical school learn to design and manufacture costumes and accessories.
Students in their last year of school have the option of doing an internship. Students can also participate in the theater school alumni performance in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City, as well as undertake mock interviews with local fashion businesses.

Brown University's Department of Egyptology and Assyriology provides two tracks: Egyptology, which studies ancient Egypt, and Assyriology, which studies Assyria and Mesopotamia. Every student should attend at least ten classes to learn about these ancient civilizations.

A bachelor of fine arts degree in comic art is available from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Students learn how to create conventional and digital comic books, tales, and graphic novels over four years. Students also learn how to deliver compelling stories.
